'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Star Andy Samberg to Host 2015 Prime-Time Emmy AwardsReuters

"Saturday Night Live" alum and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star Andy Samberg has been roped in to host the 67th Prime-Time Emmy Awards, which will air at 8.00 pm (EST) on 20 September on FOX.

TV Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum said in a statement that it was fitting to have Samberg, who has excelled in all aspects of the Television universe – both behind and in front of the camera.

Samberg will be joining the likes of Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler, Tina Fey and Billy Crystal, who went on to become terrific hosts after leaving "SNL". Samberg has also won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for "D*ck in a Box", one of the hit numbers produced by his band "The Lonely Island".

The band, which also consists of his best friends from high school, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone, also wrote and performed the Oscar-nominated song "Everything is Awesome" -- from "The Lego Movie" -- at the 87th Academy Awards.

"SNL" stands testament to the funny man's comic timing and if you need to know the kind of performer he will be when on the stage alone, watch him gracefully unravel the concept of roasting in "Comedy Central Roast of James Franco". If you're still not convinced about his knack for being the host the 2015 Emmys, read this statement he wrote to announce the news:

"Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers... Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you're not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I'm hosting, and it's gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts."

The nominations for the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on 16 July, Thursday, and the event itself will be aired only on 30 September. Meanwhile, you can enjoy Samberg in his Golden Globe award-winning role as Det. Jake Peralta in the Golden Globe-winning show "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", which airs in FOX on Sundays at 8.30 pm (EST).
