Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel has been appointed as the Working President of the Gujarat Congress on Saturday, July 11. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has approved the proposal to nominate Hardik Patel as the working president of Congress's Gujarat unit with immediate effect.
"Congress chief Sonia Gandhi appoints Hardik Patel working president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee," Congress said in an official statement.

Currently, Amit Chavda is the chief of the Congress's Gujarat unit.
Earlier this year, Patidar leader Hardik Patel was arrested by the Ahmedabad police in a three-year-old case of rioting.
