Telugu movie "Mukunda" starring debutante Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde in the leads has garnered overwhelming response on its opening day and has also affected the collection of Aamir Khan's "PK" at the Andhra Pradesh and Nizam (AP/N) box office.

"Mukunda" has created lot of positive buzz for two reasons: the acting debut of Nagababu's son Varun Tej and "Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu" fame Srikanth Addala's direction.

Its promos have garnered lot of attention for the film. In addition, the producers have had extensive promotion for the film.

The ticket booking for "Mukunda" was made available well in advance. The film registered good ticket booking for the first day. Riding on the back of huge hype, "Mukunda" released in over 500 cinema halls across the globe. The screening of the movie started quite early in some centres.

"Mukunda" has received overwhelming response with occupancy ranging between 70% and 80% in both single screens and multiplexes in the morning shows. The movie also ran to packed houses in many centres. The film witnessed growth in its business in the second show.

The Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde starrer has got mixed response from viewers and word of mouth is took its collection upwards in the afternoon and evening shows on its opening day. "Mukunda" has  to collected approximately ₹3.5 crore at the worldwide box office on the first day.

Since there were no big releases, Aamir Khan's Bollywood film "PK" became the first choice for many film goers and did fantastic collection at the (AP/N) box office in five days. But "Mukunda", which release in theatres on sixth day of "PK", has become the first choice for Telugu audience and has taken the toll on the business of "PK."
