Check out the box office collection report of Rajinikanth-starrer "Lingaa," Aamir Khan's "PK" and Arya's "Meaghamann" for the last weekend (2-4 January) in Malaysia.

Lingaa

Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" continues its successful run at the Malaysian box office even in its fourth week. Although the film's collections have dropped, it has managed to dominate some screens in Malaysia, which is one of the key markets for Tamil films.

"Lingaa" has minted 32,291 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) from nine screens in its fourth weekend (2-4 January). The film's total collections (till 4 January) stand at 2,245,511 (₹4 crore). [Note: Reported screens only], according to Bollywood Hungama.

"Lingaa" took grand openings worldwide on 12 December and fared well in its opening weekend. However, the film's collections dropped significantly due to mixed reviews. According to some reports, "Lingaa" collections are not as expected and it has turned out to be a flop at the box office.

The film has reportedly grossed over ₹140 crore at the worldwide box office and its distributor share is estimated to be over ₹78 crore. "Lingaa" worldwide theatricals value is estimated at over ₹135 crore (including the Hindi version), according to Andhraboxoffice.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that "Lingaa" distributors may go on a hunger strike on 10 January demanding compensation for the film's loss. R. Singaravadivelan, the distributor of "Lingaa" in Tiruchi and Thanjavur districts, has moved the Madras High Court seeking direction to the Chennai police commissioner to give permission "to observe a fast demanding compensation of 'loss' as the film was a 'failure'," reported The Hindu.

PK

Aamir Khan-starrer "PK" has managed to do decent business at the Malaysian box office. Although the film is faring well in India and overseas markets, it has not managed to overtake "Lingaa" at the Malaysian box office.

Its collections witnessed some improvement in the third weekend (2-4 January). The Aamir-starrer has fetched 28,766 MYR from just two reported screens and its total collections (as of 4 January) amount to 183,556 MYR (₹32.74 lakh).

"PK" has emerged as the biggest Bollywood hit at the worldwide box office. The film has crossed the ₹300-crore mark in India, while its worldwide gross collections amount to over ₹580 crore. The satirical drama has become the first Indian film to start the ₹300-crore club, while it might soon start the ₹600-crore club at the worldwide box office.

Meaghamann

Arya's "Meaghamann" has grossed 7,346 MYR from one reported screen at the Malaysian box office. The film's total collections, at the end of its second weekend, stand at 17,659 MYR (₹3.15 lakh). "Meaghamann," which hit the screens on Christmas Day, has been doing decent business at the Indian box office.
