Box Office Collection: Ranbir-Arjun's 'Roy' and 'MSG: The Messenger' Start on a Fantastic NoteFacebook

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's film "MSG: The Messenger" has received better opening in India than Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal's "Roy".

The opening day box office collection of "MSG" is yet to be revealed, but as per reports the business is better than "Roy". Even in the number of screens and shows "MSG" has taken the lead in India.

"MSG" screen count is approximately 4000, whereas "Roy" screen count is just 2500.

The film managed to grab the limelight due to controversies. Also, the reviews after the release have worked in the favour of the film.

The opening advance booking of "MSG" at several theaters in North was better than "Roy" thanks to Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's followers, who brought the tickets in bulk.

Surprisingly, the opening day response in South was also good.

"The advance booking of MSG is way higher than Roy. The followers of Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's are buying tickets in bulk and passing the tickets to other followers," exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi told Koimoi.com.

"Looking at the business, the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows are all going houseful resulting into an insane figures similar to the movies like PK, Dhoom3 and Kick, or in fact is even more and the ticket rates are Rs 450 to 500. Moreover, because of the controversy which the movie created with the clash of censor board chief of Central Board of Film Certification, almost everybody is aware about this film," he added.
