Suriya's "Masss" continues to rule the box office in Chennai and has beaten new movies such as "Dil Dhadakne Do", "Kaaka Muttai", and others.

In its second weekend, "Masss" has raked in ₹88.44 lakh from 207 shows, reports Behindwoods. In the weekdays, it had 364 shows and made ₹86.90 lakh to take its total tally to ₹3.59 crore at the Chennai box office by the end of its second weekend.

The word-of-mouth has been good for "Masss" and the audience turnouts to theatres have remained stable. The Suriya starrer movie dominated and remained on top despite the latest releases like "Kaaka Muttai" and "Dil Dhadakne Do".

In the opening weekend, "Kaaka Muttai" has made an amazing business of ₹40 lakh from 144 shows. This is a record figure for a movie that does not have a single star actor in the film. The art house movie has successfully met the expectations of those audience who like commercial films.

It is followed by Arulnithi's "Demonte Colony", which made ₹27.80 lakh from 111 shows. The total collection made by the flick in Chennai was ₹1.92 crore by the end of its third week.

Zoya Akhtar directorial Bollywood movie "Dil Dhadakne Do", which has stars like Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, is in the fourth position in Chennai. It earned ₹27.48 lakh from 78 shows, which is quite impressive. We have to wait and see if it will perform well as it has got mixed reviews.

Madhavan's "Tanu Weds Manu" is in the fifth place, earning ₹8.67 lakh from 42 shows. The total collection of the movie at the Chennai box office stands at ₹44.61 lakh. It is followed by Jyothika's "36 Vayadhinile", which made ₹6.22 lakh from 39 shows at the Chennai box office. It has made a total business of ₹2.17 crore here.
