Piku and Gabbar is Back
Box Office Collection: Deepika-Amitabh 'Piku' to Dominate in 2nd Week; Akshay's 'Gabbar Is Back' Earns ₹79 Crore in 17 DaysTwitter

Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan starrer "Piku" continues its success at the box office even after the release of "Bombay Velvet".

The film remained the first choice at several multiplexes and single screens across India on its second Friday. "Piku" directed by Shoojit Sircar minted ₹3.10 crore on second Friday.

The net box office income of the film now stands at ₹44.52 crore and it might cross the ₹50 crore mark in India by Saturday or Sunday.

"#Piku [Week 2] Fri 3.10 cr. Grand total: ₹ 44.52 cr. India biz. FABULOUS!," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The family drama has charmed audiences with its storyline, content and great performances. Talking about the success of the film, Deepika says that the whole team of "Piku" is overwhelmed.

"I think we had all thought that it's a sweet film and that people will connect with it, but none of us had expected it to become this big. It's gone beyond our own control. The biggest compliment for me has been... I know it may sound funny, but a lot of people want to adopt me," Deepika told IANS.

"Multiple people have told me that they want to adopt me after watching 'Piku', and that's very overwhelming."

With "Bombay Velvet" having a disappointing start, "Piku" is expected to dominate the box office this week as well. One can expect "Piku" to cross ₹65 crore mark at the box office in its lifetime run.

On the other hand, Akshay Kumar's "Gabbar Is Back" box office has slowed down in India, but the film has taken its two weeks total to a decent amount.

"Gabbar Is Back" minted ₹79.56 crore in 14 days from domestic theatrical run.

"#GabbarIsBack [Week 2] Fri 2.80 cr, Sat 4.20 cr, Sun 5 cr, Mon 2.25 cr, Tue 2 cr, Wed 1.80 cr, Thu 1.65 cr. Grand total: ₹ 79.56 cr," Adarsh tweeted.
