Box Office Collection: Akshay's 'Baby' and Sonam's 'Dolly Ki Doli' Start on a Slow Notefacebook

Akshay Kumar's "Baby" and Sonam Kapoor's "Dolly Ki Doli" passed its one week test at the domestic box office.

Akshay's starrer action thriller "Baby" had a decent one week box office collection with ₹63.82 crore earning. The film, helmed by Neeraj Pandey, started off on a slow note, but it held up well over the next six days due to positive reviews.

"#Baby Fri to Mon [4-day weekend] 50.97 cr, Tue 5.10 cr, Wed 4.25 cr, Thu 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 63.82 cr. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first week business of the film.

It crossed the ₹50 crore mark in four days and became the first movie of 2015 to breach that mark. It is also the highest grosser film, until now, and if it continues to fare well than it would be the first ₹100 crore grosser of 2015.

On the other hand, Sonam's "Dolly Ki Doli" had a below average first week. The film failed to sell tickets at the box office in its first week run and managed to earn only ₹18.66 crore.

Produced by Arbaaz Khan, the film features Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in male lead roles.

"Dolly Ki Doli", which is based on true story, got the mixed response from critics and at the box office upon its opening. It failed to show growth and thus had a below average collection.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan's "PK" is still running at few theaters in India. The film had a marvellous run at the domestic box office and post sixth week the net earnings stands at ₹340.8 crore.

"#PK [Week 6] Fri 14 lacs, Sat 19 lacs, Sun 32 lacs, Mon 29 lacs, Tue 10 lacs, Wed 10 lacs, Thu 9 lacs. Grand total: ₹ 340.8 cr [updated]," Adarsh tweeted.

Rajkumar Hirani's directorial film "PK" has set a record of being the highest grosser Bollywood film ever.
