Box Office Collection: 'Ab Tak Chappan' Better than 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'; 'Baadlapur' Dominates

Romantic film "Dum Laga Ke Haisha" has taken a slow start at the domestic box office, but the collection is expected to increase over the weekend.

The film starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar was released in just 769 screens in India on Friday. And from the 769 screens it minted ₹1.10 crore on first day.

"#DumLagaKeHaisha Fri ₹ 1.10 cr. India biz... Saturday morning shows better than Friday. Word of mouth is super-strong," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"Dum Laga KE Haisha" is carrying positive reviews, which is reflected in Saturday (second day) occupancy. Saturday shows have got better response than Friday's.

Meanwhile, the number of screens is limited in India, but the makers will increase the count depending on the response.

"#DumLagaKeHaisha India screen count: 769. Not releasing day & date in international markets... contd," Adarsh added.

"We will wait for word of mouth before we venture into single screens [India] and intl markets": Yash Raj on #DumLagaKeHaisha release, according to Adarsh.

Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film is helmed by Sharat Katariya. The film also features Sanjay Mishra, Alka Amin, Seema Pahwa and Sheeba Chadda in key roles.

On the other hand, Nana Patekar's "Ab Tak Hai Chappan 2" has got a better start than "Dum Laga Ke Haisha", but the screen count of the latter is very less.

The opening day box office collection of crime drama "Ab Tak Chappan 2" stands at ₹1.25 crore.

Varun Dhawan starrer crime drama dominated the box office on second Friday. The crime drama collected ₹1.5 crore on second Friday from domestic box office.

"#Badlapur Fri 7 cr, Sat 8.50 cr, Sun 8 cr, Mon 4.05 cr, Tue 3.35 cr, Wed 3.01 cr, Thu 2.40 cr. Total: ₹ 36.31 cr. India biz," trade analyst tweeted the opening week box office collection.

The film will have a decent second weekend, but will not cross the ₹50 crore mark in India.
