German luxury car maker BMW unveiled Concept Compact Sedan, a four-door sedan for the compact segment, at the Auto Guangzhou 2015 in China that started on 20 November.

"The BMW Concept Compact Sedan reveals the potential we see in a compact sedan," said Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President of BMW Group Design.

Designed to preview the 1 Series Sedan, the concept has a Liquid Metal Bronze exterior colour. The model has a sporty front fascia with signature kidney grille, LED headlights and newly shaped air intakes. The other notable features in the car are flared wheel arches, polished aluminium window surrounds, and stylish 20-inch alloy wheels.

As for the interior, all the lines, forms and controls are placed focusing on the driver. The Concept also boast of Nappa leather seats, heads-up display, accent lighting, panoramic glass roof and an infotainment system with an 8.8-inch display.

The technical details are under wraps for now.

The rear seats will have more leg space since the car is targeting Asian markets that demand long-wheel base version. Visually, the rear bench suggests two individual seats with separate climate control system. The Concept is based on UKL platform and expected to come with three-four cylinder engines in both petrol and diesel.

The concept car can be considered as the first prototype of BMW's contender to rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and the Audi A3 sedan.
