The sitting JDU MLA representing Raghopur constituency, Satish Kumar, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday after the ruling Janata Dal United (JDU) denied ticket to him and Hilsa MLA Usha for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections in October.

The move comes just as the grand Mahagatbandhan alliance consisting of Congress, JDU and RJD are set to announce their candidates for the state assembly elections.

BJP is expected to field Kumar from Raghopur constituency, from where RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejaswi Yadav is set to make his electoral debut, PTI reported.

On 29 August, three other law-makers - two JDU MLAs and a former RJD MLA - had joined the BJP, just a day before the 'Swabhiman rally' by the grand alliance.

These included former JDU minister Renu Kumari Kushwaha from Bihariganj assembly constituency, Dr Sunil Kumar, sitting JDU MLA from Biharisharif and former RJD MLA Braj Kishore Singh from Baruraj.
