Bengali Actress Swastika Mukherjee's Suicide Attempt Rumours are False, Says Sister Ajopa

Swastika Mukherjee, well known Bengali film actress, was admitted to Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning after she fell on the floor.

Mukherjee was admitted to hospital with cut injuries in her forearm and wrist. Reports of actress hospitalised with cut injuries fuelled rumours that she committed suicide, but her sister Ajopa Mukherjee slammed the reports.

Dr Kaushik Nandy, who operated Swastika, said that she came to hospital with shards of glass lodged in her forearm and wrist, Mid-Day reported.

Swastika is doing fine after she underwent surgery to remove the glass pieces.

"There were some cut injuries. We don't know how it happened. She is fine now and will be discharged soon," Nandy told Press Trust of India.

The incident happened on Friday night when Swastika was partying at a friend's place. Following the accident there were reports that she tried to commit suicide after a tiff with her filmmaker boyfriend.

But Ajopa slamming all the rumours said that she was hurt due to an accident.

"She was hurt due to an accident that happened at her friend's place in the morning. I met her and all these rumours are false," she said, according to Mid-Day.

The 33 year old divorcee got married to singer Pramit Sen at the age of 18 and has daughter Anwesha from the marriage.

Swastika is known for her Bengali films "Bye Bye Bangkok", "Hemanter Pakhi", "Jaatishwar", "Mishawr Rawhoshyo" and others.

She started her acting career in a television serial "Devdasi." She made her film debut in 2003 with "Hemanter Pakhi."

Swastika will soon be seen in a Hindi film "'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi" directed by Dibakar Banerjee. She is paired opposite "Shuddh Desi Romance" star Sushant Singh Rajput.

She was last seen in the Bengali film "Take One" in which she had full frontal nudity scenes. The film's story was based on MMS scandals of film stars.

The film was in news for the bold scenes in it, but Swastika had no problem doing those bold scenes.

"Everyone saw the MMS clips of Chatrak (Paoli Dam appeared in nude scenes in the 2011 Bengali film directed by Sri Lankan director Vimukthi Jayasundara). I did not once think why did Paoli shoot those scenes?" Swastika told the Ananda Plus of Anandabazar Patrika.

"I had asked Mainak to shoot the nude scenes in a way that they appear aesthetic so that people should fall in love with them. And I asked him that there should not be an MMS clip made of them."
