Ravi Teja's "Bengal Tiger" has done decent business at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in the four-day extended first weekend. It has beaten the records of the Mass Maharaja's recent releases.

"Bengal Tiger" was one of the most awaited Telugu movies of 2015. The film was released in around 700 cinema halls across these two states. After seeing its hype, promotion and decent advance booking, trade analysts in T-Town predicted that the film would get a superb opening and do good collection over the weekend.

As predicted, "Bengal Tiger" debuted with fantastic response, with average occupancy crossing 85% on Thursday. The film grossed approximately Rs 7.35 crore at the AP/T box office on its first day. The film fetched Rs 5.28 crore to the distributors of these regions. But it failed to beat the opening-day record of Ravi Teja's last release "Kick 2", which had raked in Rs 7.65 crore on the first day.

"Bengal Tiger" garnered mixed reviews from viewers, with most of them impressed by its entertainment quotient. The word of mouth was expected to take its business upward on Friday, but its collection went down. The film seemed to be affected by two other new releases — "Hithudu" and "Anaganaga Oka Chitram" — which hit the screens a day late.

The Sampath Nandi-directed action film showed decent growth the following day.

Andhra Box Office tweeted: "Big Sunday and Solid Weekend for #BengalTiger making Distributors happy recovering Large chunk of their Manageable Rates. Numbers afternoon. (sic)"

"Bengal Tiger" has collected Rs 19.60 crore gross at the AP/T box office in the first weekend, and its distributors' share stands at Rs 13.65 crore. The film has beaten the records of "Power" and "Kick 2", which fetched Rs 11.75 crore and Rs 12.13 crore, respectively, for their distributors in the two states.

The Ravi Teja, Tamannaah and Raashi Khanna-starrer has done average business in other parts of the globe. "Bengal Tiger" has collected approximately Rs 25.55 crore at the worldwide box office in the four-day extended first weekend, and its distributors' share stands at Rs 16.60 crore.
