Xavi Hernandez Barcelona
It will be an emotional day for Xavi when Barcelona play their final La Liga game of the season against DeportivoReuters

There will be plenty of dancing for joy at the end of the La Liga match between Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruna, but it could also be tinged with some sadness and regret.

Barcelona will be given the La Liga tophy at the final whistle of this Spanish League game, a game which could see Deportivo La Coruna relegated if they lose, and which will definitely see the legendary Xavi Hernandez bid goodbye to the La Liga.

There are still a couple of matches before Barcelona's season winds up – the Copa Del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao and the Champions League final against Juventus -- but this will certainly be the final La Liga match that anyone will get to see the peerless Xavi perform in.

Xavi has undoubtedly been one of the finest midfielders of the modern era and of Barcelona as well, with whom he has a record 764 appearances. Barcelona coach Luis Enrique confirmed the 35-year-old, who will join Qatari side Al Sadd at the end of the season, will make his 765th appearance against Deportivo.

"For me, Xavi is still good enough to play one more year for Barca," said Enrique. "But it's his decision. Xavi made a decision that eventually had to be made, but he can still win two more titles.

"He'll have a new and very enriching experience and he'll also be able to see what he had at Barca."

While it will be a party atmosphere for Barcelona fans, it is a lot more serious for Deportivo, who are currently two points clear of the relegation zone going into the finals set of fixtures.

However, while Deportivo face the champions at the Camp Nou, Eibar, currently in 18th, play already-relegated Cordoba. Almeria, the other team who could also survive if they get the right result, lock horns with Valencia, in what promises to be a relegation battle that will go right down to the wire.

"It is another day and we have to keep fighting," Deportivo coach Victor Sanchez said. "The game has not even been played yet and people are already saying we have lost, but we will go for the win and if not a point will be enough.

"The excitement and optimism is the same as it was on the first day of the season. We are up for the fight and we have held nothing back in our preparations."
