Reports have surfaced that Shakib al Hasan, the 27-year-old Bangladeshi all-rounder, has made a threat to walk away from Tests and one day internationals.

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has said Bangladeshi coach Chandika Hathurusingha has apprised him of a message which states that Shakib threatened to withraw himself from Tests and one day internationals involving Bangladesh, reported ESPNCricinfo.

A couple of days ago, BCB had told the 27-year-old to come back to Bangladesh immediately after he had embarked on a journey to Barbados to take part in the Caribbean Premier League, a T20 competition.

The threat was reportedly made by Shakib after Hathurusingha, a former Sri Lankan player, had said to him that he should be present in Bangladesh's training camp on 1 August. This would have brought about an end to his CPL stint as the T20 tournament will be held from 11 July to 16 August.

The Bangladeshi board president appeared far from pleased about the matter. "I have received a letter in this regard. I don't understand how he [Shakib] can say such a thing," Nazmul told the Bengali daily Prothom Alo, according to ESPNCricinfo.

Discipline was of utmost importance, he made clear. He also wanted to know the points of view of all parties involved in this matter. "I want to speak to them in person. If this is indeed true, nobody will be spared. There will be no compromise on discipline," said Nazmul Hasan.

This will not be the first instance of a Bangladeshi player making his displeasure evident about some of the board's decisions. In 2013, Bangladesh's tour of Zimbabwe and the IPL were held at the same time causing Shakib and Tamim Iqbal to not be available for a major part of the tournament.

The Bangladeshi all-rounder in all likelihood will join the camp, which commenced on 1 July, from Sunday. BCB said Shakib is unlikely to get a No-Objection Certificate after he manner in which he went to the West Indies.

"There is very little possibility to give the NOC [No-Objection Certificate]. He has broken the discipline. We are very strict in this regard. The board will take a decision on giving him the NOC in the July 7 meeting," Hassan said to the website.

Shakib is no stranger to brushes with authorities and has been involved in disciplinary violations earlier as well. A vulgar gesture toward the camera during a Bangladesh-Sri Lanka encounter saw him incur a three-match ban; furthermore a BCB disciplinary committee is looking into an alleged fracas with a spectator during a Bangladesh vs India match .

This is the first time a Bangladeshi cricketer has said he may choose to walk away from international cricket. Earlier Sunil Narine of the West Indies was barred by the West Indies cricket board from taking part in the recently-completed Test series versus New Zealand after he refused to join a training camp before the series, owing to his duties with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
