Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" has opened on a mammoth note at the box offices in India. As reported earlier, the film witnessed houseful first day shows and also weekend tickets are sold out in several theaters in India.

Kabir Khan's directorial film "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" opened to approximately 95% occupancy across India on Friday. Early morning shows in Mumbai, National Capital Region, UP and Rajasthan among others showed 100% occupancy in several theaters.

Cinema chains such as PVR and Inox have sold more than 1 lakh tickets in its advance booking counter. According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, PVR has sold over 2 lakh opening weekend tickets, while Inox has recorded over 1,25,000 weekend tickets sales.

"PVR #BajrangiBhaijaan Friday over 85000 ticket sales. Weekend over 2 lakh (including friday)," box office analyst Komal Nahta tweeted adding, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan Inox Friday over 50000 ticket sales. Weekend over 125000 (including friday). Outstanding advance booking numbers."

Looking at the opening day occupancy and opening weekend advance booking, "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" is sure to shatter all the records and open on a fantastic note in India.

While the film will emerge as the highest Bollywood opener of 2015, it remains to be seen whether it will beat the opening day record of "Baahubali: The Beginning" and Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year".

The film, released ahead of Eid al Fitr 2015, features Salman, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Harshaali Malhotra in lead roles. The film, which received rave reviews from Bollywood celebrities and film critics, has been released in 4500 screens in India and more than 700 screens overseas.
