Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have impressed critics with their performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial film "Bajirao Mastani".

The historic period drama is worth a watch for Bhansali's direction and Deepika, Ranveer and Priyanka's performance. According to critics, Ranveer and Deepika have delivered their career's best performances.

Though the cinematography and performances are brilliant, the pace of the film has got a big thumbs down from critics. The first half of the film is entertaining and engaging, but the second doesn't live up to the expectations.

The historical drama features Ranveer and Deepika in title roles while Priyanka plays the role of Ranveer's first wife in the film. "Bajirao Mastani" also features Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Milind Soman and Ayush Tandon in pivotal roles.

Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express said: "'Bajirao Mastani' had the potential to be a terrific historical. What it ends up being is a costume drama: too many costumes, too much revved-up, empty drama, and too little story."

Lokesh Dharmani of Masala.com said: "Ranveer Singh does deliver a fine performance. He speaks in a certain Marathi accent and he is consistent at it. Priyanka Chopra shines in a couple of scenes. And Deepika Padukone proves herself yet again. The film is a good one-time watch."

Tushar Joshi of BollywoodLife.com said: "Larger than life sets, dazzling costumes and some well written scenes make up for the first half of Bajirao Mastani. The dialogues will give you goosebumps. Deepika and Ranveer are on their way of giving their career best performances with BM.

Manjari Saxena of Gulf News said: " First of all, it seems confused whether it should be a romance or historic film, swerving between Bajirao wanting to be the famous warrior and the eternal lover. Second, is its pace."

Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV said: "There isn't a dull moment in this colourful and dramatic film that embraces excess with unabashed abandon."

Subhash K Jha in his review said: "Close to perfection..Ranveer's entry ..spectacular.he looks every inch the warrior king..way to go. This is #Bhansali's best work to date passionate and riveting."

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "BAJIRAO MASTANI is a cinematic gem that you just cannot miss. Tremendous performances, deft direction, power-packed screenwriting and dialogue, melodious soundtrack and of course, the lavish mounting -- this film has it all. Strongly recommended!"

Kamaal R Khan tweeted: "My 4.5* to acting of Chichora @RanveerOfficial, what a fucking terrific performance he has given in #BajiraoMastani! Gazab Kar Diya Sale Ne. My 5* to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for direction. A director needs very high quality skills to make film like #BajiraoMastani! Salute n respect."
