"Avatar 2" is scheduled to be released in December 2017. It's indeed a long wait for "Avatar" fans. Director James Cameron, in a recent interview, explains the reasons causing the delay.

When release dates of "Avatar 2" and "Avatar 3" were announced, there were reports suggesting the film's production was being delayed because James Cameron was not happy, rather not well-equipped with the graphic and technical tools required to implement his innovative ideas.

In the interview, Cameron revealed that his team is now focused on creating graphics for the ocean ecosystem of Pandora to film the "oceanographic exploration" similar to the one shown in "Titanic" and "The Abyss", reports Kpop Starz (via Coming Soon).

"We're doing 'Avatar' films now, so we're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. There isn't a direct map between the deep ocean exploration that I've done and the ocean stuff that we're doing in the 'Avatar' films," Cameron was quoted as saying. 

"However, I'm going to continue in the future making documentaries and continuing explorations stuff as well because I'm always fascinated by that," he added.

The director further explained that the audience will get to see only a part of the environment of Pandora.

"People have connected the dots directly together. 'Oh, going to the challenger deep has a direct connection to what we're going to see in Avatar 2,' and that's not the case at all. It's all the scuba diving I did before I even started the deep ocean stuff that has more of a direct connection to Avatar 2 & 3, which by the way won't take place completely in or under the water. That's just part of the environment of Pandora that we're going to see," Cameron explained.

Now, we guess it's worth a wait for fans, who are looking forward to the release of 20th Century Fox's "Avatar 2" in December 2017. "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" are expected to be released in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
