Last month, Asus had announced that it would release Android Lollipop update to its Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 series smartphones by mid-May, but now the company has delayed the roll-out process indefinitely, owing to glitches in the firmware.

The company confirmed the news on the official ZenTalk forum. "ASUS team has found issues in the system during google verification. We have decided to postpone the Android L upgrade in order to provide improved user experience after upgrading to Android L," said the ZenTalk moderator.

"Our RD team is currently working on the related issues. We will release Android L update as soon as possible once these issues have been sorted out," he added.

The company has not specified how much time it will take to fix the issues and release the update. Asus Zenfone device owners have been waiting for the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for more than seven months, so it really doesn't make a difference if they have to wait another week or two, but they sure hope that now when they get the firmware it is bug-free and worth the agonizing wait.

So far, the company has released the update only to Zenfone 5 LTE. Once the glitch is fixed, Asus will deploy the firmware to Zenfone 4 (A400CG/A450CG), Zenfone 5 (A500CG), the Zenfone 6 (A600CG), and later to Padfone (PF500KL).
