Indian smartphone market is thronged with devices being released almost every fortnight and this can confuse prospective buyers in spite of enjoying the luxury of choosing the best gadget available. Several budget smartphones like Lenovo A7000, Micromax Yu Yureka and Motorola Moto G 2nd generation are currently available in the market through flash sale, and Asus Zenfone 2 is also set to join the fray.

Asus is releasing its new device, the Asus Zenfone 2 in India on Thursday and it will be available in three variants - ZenFone 2 ZE500CL, ZenFone 2 ZE550ML and ZenFone 2 ZE551ML. The official prices of the devices in India are not revealed yet but going by a report by Asus official website, it would vary from ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 when it hits the stores. 

The entry level smartphone - Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL model – is priced at TWD 4,990 (around ₹9,930 / $159) while Asus France tweeted that it would have a price tag of €179 (approximately $193 / ₹12,000), which means it might take on devices like Lenovo A7000 and Micromax Yu Yureka that costs ₹8,999.

Hardware

Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL is powered by Atom Z2560 processor which is superior (at least on the papers) to Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 seem in Micromax Yu Yureka and MediaTek MT6752m in Lenovo A7000.

Software

Both Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL and Lenovo A7000 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, while the Micromax Yu Yureka comes with CyanogenMod Android 4.4.4 KitKat (upgradable to Android Lollipop).

Memory

Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL comes packed with 16GB internal memory expandable up to 64GB and 2GB RAM, while Micromax Yu Yureka houses a 16GB internal memory with microSD slot up to 32GB and 2 GB RAM, and Lenovo A7000 has 8GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB and 2 GB RAM. The ZenFone 2 has a slight edge over its competitors as its memory can be expanded up to 64GB.

Camera

Micromax Yu Yureka has a 13MP main camera and 5MP front snapper, which is superior that 8MP main camera and 5MP front snapper seen in Lenovo A7000, and 8MP main camera and 2MP front snapper seen in Asus Zenfone 2 ZE500CL.

Battery

Packed with a Li-Po 2900 mAh battery, Lenovo A7000 is the winner. Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL and Micromax Yu Yureka have a 2500 mAh battery.

Conclusion: We can see a clearer picture only when Asus reveal the price of its device but as of now, it looks like a fierce competition between Asus ZenFone 2 ZE500CL, Lenovo A7000 and Micromax Yu Yureka is inevitable. Specification comparison shows ZenFone 2 having an edge over the other two in processor and storage but lacks behind in other departments.
