It is confirmed that the much-hyped Asus Zenfone 2 4GB RAM model will be launched in India in a few weeks' time but the exact release date is not known yet. A section of the media claimed that the device would be released on 13 April in India but a teaser from the company didn't mention the date.
"ASUS Zenfone 2 reaching Indian market by last week of April!" reads the teaser from Asus.
The Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) 4GB RAM model is expected to come with price tag ranging from ₹13,000 to ₹20,000, as the 16GB internal memory model is priced at TWD 6,990 (around ₹13,900, $224), 32GB variant at TWD 8,990 (around ₹17,900, $288), and 64GB model at TWD 9,990 (around ₹19,850, $320).
Asus is yet to reveal Zenfone 2 pricing in India but it is very likely to be around ₹20,000, which means it will have to take on several devices like HTC Desire 820s, Nokia Lumia 830 and Xiaomi Mi4 which are currently available in Indian market with similar price tag.

Asus Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) sports a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels (403 ppi pixel density), which is superior than the display seen in HTC Desire 820s (5.5-inch, 720 x 1280 pixels, 267 ppi pixel density), Nokia Lumia 830 (5-inch, 720 x 1280 pixels, 294 ppi pixel density), and Xiaomi Mi 4 (5-inch, 1080 x 1920 pixels, 441 ppi pixel density). The Mi 4 has better screen resolution with 441ppi but Zenfone 2 has a bigger screen with 403ppi.
Hardware and Software:
Asus Zenfone 2 is ahead of its competitors in terms of hardware and software. It is powered by Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocking at 2.3 GHz and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop, compared to Mediatek MT6752 and Android 4.4.4 KitKat in HTC Desire 820s, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 and Android 4.4.3 KitKat in Xiaomi Mi 4, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 in Nokia Lumia 830.
Storage:
Asus Zenfone 2 comes packed with 16/32/64GB internal memory expandable up to another 64GB and 4GB RAM, while HTC Desire 820s has 16 GB internal storage, 2 GB RAM and microSD up to 32 GB, Nokia Lumia 830 has 16 GB, 1 GB RAM microSD up to 128 GB, and the Mi 4 comes with 16/64 GB internal memory and 3 GB RAM. The Zenfone 2 is superior in this department too.
Camera:
Asus Zenfone 2, HTC Desire 820s and Xiaomi Mi 4 have 13 MP main camera, but Nokia Lumia 830 scores more with 10 MP rear camera with optical image stabilization. However, HTC Desire 820s, and Xiaomi Mi 4 have 8MP front snapper compared to 5 MP in Zenfone 2 and 0.9 MP in Lumia 830. Overall, HTC Desire 820s and Xiaomi Mi 4 stand out in camera.
Battery:
Xiaomi Mi 4 wins with Li-Ion 3080 mAh battery closely followed by Zenfone 2's Li-Po 3000 mAh battery.
Conclusion:
Asus Zenfone 2 is yet to hit the stores but going by its specifications, it scores over other devices with similar price tag, be it display, hardware, software or storage.
