A Senior Sub-inspector (SSI) was arrested from a hotel on Thursday night in Uttar Pradesh for raping a rape victim.

Reports say, the girl was sexually abused when she went to the policeman seeking action for a rape complaint lodged earlier by her in the Akbarpur police station.

SSI Man Singh, on the pretext of taking her to meet the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Faziabad range, took her to a hotel in Motinagar near Faziabad where he raped her.

The girl reportedly managed to slip into the bathroom and send a text to her relatives, who immediately informed the matter to the DIG, following which a team of police raided the hotel and rescued the girl. Medical examination confirmed the rape, reported IANS.

The girl hails from Akbarpur city, about 180 km from Ambedkarnagar, say reports.

After being rescued, she told the police that her father deserted her soon after her mother's death. She also said that she was gangraped by a village local and five of his friends.

Reports say that she had lodged a complaint against them on September 15 in Akbarpur police station.

The girl alleged that the culprits were not arrested, despite the complaint. They threatened her instead, due to which she went to Man Singh seeking help.

Govind Agarawal, Ambedkarnagar Superintendent of Police, said that a probe has been initiated into the matter and Man Singh was suspended from his duties.
