Arsenal have confirmed that German striker Lukas Podolski has completed a loan move to Inter Milan for the remainder of the 2014/15 season.

The 29-year-old, who had been pushing to make a move out of the Emirates after failing to make get enough first team football this season, had recently flown to Italy to undergo a medical and complete some formalities ahead of the move.

And now the Gunners have announced that Podolski has completed the move.

"Lukas Podolski has completed a move to Inter Milan on loan for the remainder of the 2014/15 season," read a statement in the club's official website.

Inter Milan also announced the deal on their official website, adding that they are grateful to the FIGC (Italian football federation) for helping them wrap up the transfer so "quickly and smoothly."

"FC Internazionale is pleased to announce that Lukas Podolski has joined the club on loan from Arsenal FC until June 2015," read a statement in the club's official website. "We would like to thank the FIGC for helping to complete the transfer quickly and smoothly."

The Serie A club also revealed that Podolski will be handed the "number 11 shirt", and has been selected for the Nerazzurri's trip to Juventus on Wednesday.

"Podolski will wear the number 11 shirt. He is in the squad for Juventus v Inter and on his way to Turin with the team," the Serie A club posted on Twitter.

Podolski also took to his official Facebook page to confirm his move to Inter Milan, expressing his gratitute to the Serie A side for having confidence in him.

"I'm part of the glorious world-famous club FC Inter!!" Podolski posted on his official Facebook page. "I'm grateful for the confidence the club has in me-and will pay it back with strong performances."

The former Bayern Munich stirker also thanked  Inter Milan manger Roberto Mancini and sporting director Piero Ausilio for making the transfer happen, insisting that he would do his best to join the list of club legends. 

"I want to give a special thanks to coach Roberto Mancini who made a big effort for me to come to Inter, he made it an easy decision for me & also sports director Piero Ausilio who made this transfer happen. I hope to rank among club legends like Ronaldo, Zanetti, Klinsmann, Brehme, Matthäus and many others one day."
