Last week, Apple released the brand new 2015 series iOS 9 to all the eligible iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices. But soon after the commencement of the roll-out process, early adopters, who tried to download the update, complained that their devices got stuck during the installation.

New reports also emerged that the new firmware had some bugs in it resulting in less responsive display, sudden crashing of device and some sluggishness animation features.

In response to the complaints, Apple had promised to release a software patch as soon as possible and it has now delivered on its promise.

The new update iOS 9.0.1 is around 35MB in size and fixes numerous bugs.

Prominent bug-fixes include:

  • Fixes an issue where some users could not complete setup assistant after updating
  • Fixes an issue where sometimes alarms and timers could fail to play
  • Fixes an issue in Safari and Photos where pausing video could cause the paused frame to appear distorted
  • Fixes an issue where some users with a custom APN setup via a profile would lose cellular data

The new iOS 9.0.1 will be succeeded by a major update iOS 9.1 in a couple of month's time. It is expected to come with new emoji characters and also bring enhanced features to Siri. Beta version of iOS 9.1 along with new tvOS has been made available to developers.
