Google's latest Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS update is now on an extended rollout path and is now seeding to users of the LG G5 flagship smartphone who have subscribed to Sprint's wireless network services in the US. At this juncture, it is worth noting that as Motorola Mot Z and Moto Z Force handsets on Verizon received Android Nougat software.

If you are a Sprint LG G5 user, then do check your handsets for automatic OTA notifications that represent Android Nougat. Also, very recently LG started Android Nougat deployment for LG G5 users based in South Korea.

Now, what is significant with the latest Android Nougat deployment to Sprint-driven LG G5 users is the fact that it is now only about time and imminent that other handsets (of competing brands) receive Android Nougat firmware. This includes devices such as the Motorola Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus.

Even the carrier unlocked global variants should be receiving Android Nougat firmware shortly. Therefore, users across the world can check their handsets regularly (manually rather) for new software updates. This can be done by physically navigating to Settings > About Phone System Updates Check for new firmware.

To manually update Sprint-driven LG G5 smartphones, follow the steps below:

  • Then choose System Updates
  • Select Yes I'm in. After the software is downloaded, choose Install Now
  • After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
