With the launch of Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones last week, Google also introduced the latest Android 7.1 Nougat software. While the details of Nougat's first major update were largely kept a secret, the company has finally revealed everything about its latest software.

From supported devices to all the new features, Google outs every detail about the upcoming Android 7.1 Nougat. As per the tradition, Google will first roll out the Developer Preview of Android 7.1 and the first ones to get that software are Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C. The rollout will begin by the end of this month.

Google said it will extend support to other devices by the end of its preview. Interestingly, some of the some older Nexus models will also be getting a taste of the latest software.  They include Motorola Nexus 6, HTC Nexus 9, Huawei Nexus 6P, LG Nexus 5X, Pixel C, Asus Nexus Player and supported Android One devices. These phones will get the software in the next few weeks.

Google said it plans to roll out the final version of Android 7.1.x by early December. But those who wish to test the Developer Preview must have the device enrolled in the Android Beta Program.

  • Night Light mode
  • Daydream VR support
  • Image keyboard support
  • App shortcut API (similar to Apple's 3D Touch feature)
  • Circular app icons support
  • Storage manager
  • Enhanced Live wallpaper metadata
