With all eyes set on Android M, Google hasn't stopped the software update process.

According to a latest report by AndroidOS.in, Android One smartphones in India are being treated with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The software update is being pushed over-the-air, so users will not have to go through any extra hard work other than connecting to Wi-Fi and granting permission for the installation.

According to the report, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop has been sent out to all three Android One smartphones -- Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and Spice Dream Uno -- and is expected to take few days before the rollout completes and all units are up to date with the latest software.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop hasn't been found on many devices and it is not a major one like Android 5.0 or Android 5.1. By rolling out the latest software to the Android One devices, Google is making good on its promise to keep a balanced partnership with OEMs that have agreed to put the OS on their phones. Google's program garnered a lot of attention but the sales of Android One smartphones paint a different picture altogether.

The minor Android 5.1.1 update weighs less than 12MB and pushes all three Android One phones to build number LMY47V. The update majorly brings stability and improves the performance along with usual bug fixes. If you haven't received an update notification yet, go to your smartphone's Settings > About Phone > Software Update to initiate a manual installation.

So far, Android 5.1.1 OTA update has been released to Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. Sony also confirmed that its Xperia lineup will be updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop while Samsung's flagship smartphones are also expected to get the latest software soon.
