It has been almost a month since Google unveiled its much-awaited software, Android 5.0 Lollipop. But the search engine giant has not announced its official release date, testing the patience of high-end Android phone users.

Google released the new software to Nexus 5 last week but was forced to cancel after a bug found in the firmware was draining the handset's battery faster than expected when Wi-Fi was activated. Trevor Johns, a senior developer programs engineer for Android at Google, wrote on the Android Developer Preview site last Thursday that the bug issue was solved, but the company has kept mum since then.

According to a report by iDigital Times, Google was supposed to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 on Wednesday (12 November) but none of these devices received the update.

It was reported that the new software would be rolled out along with the release of the Nexus 6 on 12 November, but T-Mobile confirmed on Google+ that the launch of the device has been delayed by a week. Due to this delay, the release of the firmware too could be postponed.

"To give +T-Mobile customers the best experience possible, we're moving our #Nexus6 launch out one week to 11/19," wrote T-Mobile on its Google+ account.

Interestingly, Ars Technica claimed in its report that Moto G (Gen 2) would be the first phone to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update and not Google's Nexus devices.

The new software has been rolled out to Moto G (Gen 2), Moto X (Gen 2), LG G3, Xiaomi Mi2 and Xiaomi Mi2S, but it's only the soak test and not official update yet. So, it is still uncertain when Google will officially release the firmware for update and which device will get it first.

With several mobile handset makers having started soak test of Android 5.0 Lollipop on its devices, its update could be made available any time if no bug is found.

However, it might take some days before the new software is officially rolled out for update if Google plans to release it along with its recently unveiled flagship device, the Nexus 6. Sadly, the new device was not released on Wednesday as expected and T-Mobile confirmed that its launch has been delayed by a week to 19 November.
