It's been only a few days since Android 5.0.2 Lollipop was released to Sony Xperia Z1s. And now, network carrier T-Mobile has reportedly begun rolling out the firmware to Xperia Z3 in America.

The company's senior product manager, Des Smith, took to Twitter to announce that T-Mobile Xperia Z3 variant will get the new Android update on Wednesday.

"Software Update: @TMobile #Z3 - #Lollipop + Band 12 support! Should start after Midnight Pacific Des," reads Des Smith Twitter handle.

Soon after the announcement, the update was rolled out to Xperia Z3 in USA via OTA (Over-The-Air).

How to install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update on T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z3 via OTA:

If Xperia Z3 device owners are getting the update notifications, then select "Yes, Download" option, then, after downloading, select "Install now." The phone will restart automatically and the OS will be updated to the new version.

We would like to remind our readers that the roll-out process is carried out in phases, so it will take some time to reach all corners of the country.

Until then, users can check for the OTA update manually by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System update' >> 'Check Now'.

This news has brought cheers to T-Mobile subscribers who have been waiting for Lollipop OS for more than two months. Sony had already released the update to all its Xperia Z series devices, including Xperia Z3 (unlocked), Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2, Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra, Z Ultra GPE (Google Play Edition), Xperia C3, T2 Ultra, Xperia Z, ZR, ZL and Tablet Z.

With the company's announcement, T-Mobile users will breathe a sigh of relief; the only thing that device owners will now be hoping for is that the firmware be bug-free after months of wait.

The new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (build number: 23.1.C.0.385) is around 620MB in size and will bring in the new design language, "Material Design", with interactive user interface, animation graphics, lock-screen notification options and the replacement of Dalvik with ART as its default runtime will bring improvement in performance-and-battery-life enhancement and many more features.
