Jewellery brand Kalyan Jewellers is in the news once again.
After an advertisement featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan became controversial for depicting "child-slavery" and "racism", a photo of the Kalyan family having lunch with Amitabh Bachchan has started doing the rounds on social media.
In the photo, which has gone viral, Amitabh, Kalyanraman and other Kalyan family members are seen having a lavish lunch at Shivaji Ganesan's home in Chennai.
The photo has been circulated on social media and Whatsapp with the caption "Kalyan jeweller's family is having lunch with Amitabh Bachchan in gold plates."
Although the claim of having lunch in gold plates cannot be validated, social media users are sharing the photo aggressively.
Meanwhile, responding to criticism by activists to the controversial advertisement, the jewellery group has apologised for promoting the ad featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, depicting "child-slavery" and "racism".
The company has also reportedly decided to withdraw the advertisement.
