The release of Telugu movies "Aavesham" starring Ajith Kumar and "Cheekati Rajyam" featuring Kamal Haasan has been postponed by a week due to unavailability of theatres.

"Aavesham" is the dubbed version of Tamil film "Vedalam". French movie "Sleepless Forest" has been remade in Telugu as "Cheekati Rajyam" and Tamil as "Thoongaavanam". Ajith Kumar and Kamal Haasan are among the most popular Tamil actors in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and the promos of their Telugu movies have created a lot of curiosity among the film-goers.

The hype and popularity of the lead actors had created a big competition for the theatrical rights of "Aavesham" and "Cheekati Rajyam". Two leading distribution houses have acquired their rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for fancy prices. Initially, they had planned to release the Tamil versions, which are scheduled to be released as a Diwali treat on 10 November.

The reports suggest that Kamal Haasan, who has a good relationship with the Akkineni family, has postponed the release of "Cheekati Rajyam" to avoid its clash with Nagarjuna's son's debut movie "Akhil". But, the Superstar said that he was forced to delay its release by a week due to unavailability of enough number of theatres.

In a recent interview, Kamal Haasan has confirmed the news about postponing "Cheekati Rajyam". "We are releasing the Tamil version on November 10th and the Telugu Version will be released on the 20th. The reason behind the delay is for a bigger release and more number of theatres," the actor told 123Telugu.

The distributors of "Aavesham" have not made an official announcement about its delay. But, its advance booking has not been made available yet. And, no ads about its release have been featured in any newspaper. Some sources from the industry claim that its dubbing works have not been completed yet. Hence, it is assumed that the movie may not release this Diwali.
