Discounts in air fares from domestic carriers continue to pour in and the latest to announce such offers are Jet Airways and Air Costa.

While the Vijayawada-based airline Air Costa has rolled out a discount of Rs.609 per ticket, Jet Airways has announced a 30% reduction in fares for both international and domestic travel, The Economic Times reported.

The booking period for Air Costa discounts is between 10 August, 2015 and 14 August, 2015 and the travel period allowed under the offer is from 20 August, 2015 to 30 September, 2015.

Meanwhile, to avail the Jet Airways offer passengers have to book tickets till 14 August, 2015 from today. The travel period for 30% discount is from 10 September, 2015, to 14 April, 2016.

Jet Airways, the airline promoted by Naresh Goyal, saw 6,350,401 international passengers travelling on its flights during the 2014-15 financial year, becoming the largest carrier in terms of international traffic from India, according to aviation consulting firm Capa India.

Cheaper crude oil prices have enabled the domestic airlines to roll out aggressive discounts for the passengers.

Overall, the airlines have seen a nearly 40% drop in fuel prices from a high of about Rs.80,000 last year.

In the latest cut, the aviation turbine fuel price (ATF) has been reduced by a whopping 9.5% or Rs.4,860 to Rs.46,407/kl.

Fuel expenses of Spicejet declined sharply by 53.6% to Rs.359 crore in the June quarter as compared to Rs.773 crore in the same period last year. The company was also able to reduce its costs by 42% in the quarter ended June 2015.
