Usain Bolt, undoubtedly, is one of the best sprinters the world has ever seen and his three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and the 4 X 100m men's relay in the recently concluded IAAF World Championships at the Bird's Nest in Beijing is a testimony to the fact.

Bolt, who had come into the world championships without many races under his belt, was considered to be the second favourite in the 100m and the 200m event with Justin Gatlin having turned up the heat with a stupendous season prior to the world championships.

Hence, the world championships was a huge test for Usain Bolt and his sprint king status. Bolt passed it with flying colours, which also silenced the critics, who later were in awe of the Jamaican sprinter.

Bolt defeated Gatlin in the 100m and the 200m with relative ease, which justifies Bolt as the best sprinter in the world. Irrespective of the form and injuries, Bolt has always been at his best during big world events.

In the last three editions of the world championships, Bolt has won eight gold medals. The Jamaican missed the 100m gold in 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, where he was disqualified, else he was the favourite.

But amongst all the world championships, his triple gold medal performance in the 2013 World Championships should rank at the top, considering his injury problems, which had raised doubts in the minds of experts and critics alike.

"This is even better, just to prove everyone wrong," AFP quoted Bolt as saying.

There might be some more important races that Bolt wants to participate in the season, but his focus will lie in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Bolt has always performed at such big stages and Olympics is the mother of all big stages.

"This season has been rough," Bolt said.

"I'm just hoping that next season won't be like this. I'm going to try my utmost best to really get on the right track early in the season and just hopefully can go on to Rio fully ready to run my best.

"I was here to do a job and was much more focused than I normally am because normally I'm in great shape with more races under my belt."
