After Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Bappi Lahiri set to make his Hollywood debut

Bappi Lahiri will no longer be known for his catchy songs and his chunky gold accessories. Henceforth, the famous Bengali singer will be known as a Hollywood star.

The 63-year-old singer is making his foray into Hollywood with Disney's animated musical adventure film, Moana.

Lahiri will lend his voice for the film's antagonist, Tamatoa, a coconut crab which hoards gold, artifacts and other riches. Lahiri's character is a comical, narcissistic crustacean and in Lahiri's words, there's a similarity between him and Tamatoa.

"This is the first time I'm dubbing for an animated character, and Tamatoa is very similar to me. I hope people will enjoy this avatar of mine; it's truly a golden memory," the Times of India quoted Lahiri as saying.

The music composer is also expected to sing a song written by Hamilton's playwright  Lin-Manuel Miranda. 

Disney's 2016 release is directed by John Musker and Ron Clements, famous for their other projects, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog, among others. Moana also includes Auli'i Cravalho, Nicole Scherzinger and Dwayne Johnson as part of its cast.

The company's 56th animated feature film depicts the journey of Moana, a teenager who travels across the South Pacific Ocean to fulfil her ancestor's quest and save her people.

Moana is set to release on Wednesday, November 23 2016 in the US. The film's premiere will also include Disney's animated short film, Inner Workings.
