Despite being neck-deep in controversies, Karan Johar's Ae Dil hai Mushkil has won over millions of hearts across the world. The film opened well both at the domestic and global box office, and has remained steady through the extended weekend. Ajay Devgn's Shivaay too wasn't far behind. After a dip on Sunday, the action-thriller fought back, registering impressive numbers on Monday.

Romantic-drama film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has collected Rs. 17.75 crore on first Monday, taking its four-day domestic box office collection to Rs. 53.35 crore. That is a 93 percent jump from Sunday.

Shivaay has scored too. It has raked in Rs. 17.35 crore on Monday, which means its domestic box office collection (of four days) now stands at Rs. 45.91 crore. In terms of percentage growth (110 percent), it has outraced ADHM.

Taran Adarsh tweeted:

"#Shivaay shows MASSIVE GROWTH on Mon... SUPERB jump... Fri 10.24 cr, Sat 10.06 cr, Sun 8.26 cr, Mon 17.35 cr. Total: ₹ 45.91 cr. India biz.

"#ADHM continues its VICTORY MARCH in the international arena... Total till Mon: $ 6.55 million [ Rs. 43.72 cr].

"#ADHM is TERRIFIC... Mon HIGHER than Fri, Sat, Sun... Fri 13.30 cr, Sat 13.10 cr, Sun 9.20 cr, Mon 17.75 cr. Total: Rs. 53.35 cr. India biz.

"Biz jumps, grows, multiplies on Mon [holiday]... Both #ADHM and #Shivaay score... EXCELLENT trending all over... Tue should be STRONG too!"

The primary reason why both the films weren't able to earn much on Sunday despite it being a holiday was because the day was spent celebrating Diwali indoors with family and friends. However, the films did make good the loss on Monday.

So, will Shivaay be able to beat Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in the coming days? From the growth that Shivaay has shown, it may just be able to beat Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, but one can never be too sure.
