Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer "Action Jackson" has witnessed drops in its collections at the domestic box office.

"Action Jackson" minted Rs 9.25 crore on the first day of its release. The film was expected to pick up during the first Saturday (6 December), but failed to do so. Its collections dropped on the second day and the film managed to rake in approximately Rs 8.25 crore. Its two-day collections amount to Rs 17.50 crore, according to Koimoi.

The film has surpassed the two-day collections of Ranveer Singh-Parineeti Chopra's "Kill Dil," which had minted Rs 13.95 crore (Rs 6.85 on day one and Rs 7.10 on day two) in two days at the domestic box office. It is also likely to surpass "Kill Dil" opening weekend collections.

But the film is unlikely to cross the Rs 30-crore mark at the end of the opening weekend. "Action Jackson" needs to register more than Rs 12 crore to surpass the Rs 30-crore mark. If the film continues to perform in a similar manner, it might not mint Rs 30 crore in the first weekend at the Indian box office.

"Action Jackson" is far behind Ajay Devgn's last release "Singham Returns," which minted more than Rs 30 crore on the opening day itself.

There were huge expectations from the Ajay Devgn starrer as "Singham Returns" was a big hit at the box office. The collaboration between Devgn and director Prabhu Deva had increased the hype surrounding the project prior to its release. But it received average reviews from the critics which seem to have affected the film's collections.

A negative word of mouth might affect the film's release and it remains to be seen as to how the Prabhu Deva directorial will fare in the coming days. As there are no big Hindi releases for another few days, "Action Jackson" is expected to call the shots in the theatres. On 12 December, the Hindi dubbed version of Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" is all set for a release. The film might pose some threat to "Action Jackson" as Rajini has a strong fan following among the Hindi audiences as well.

The release of Aamir Khan's "PK" will definitely affect "Action Jackson" as it hits the theatres on 19 December.
