As expected, "ABCD 2" (Any Body Can Dance 2) has recorded the highest first week box office collection of this year, beating the record of "Tanu Weds Manu Returns".

The film starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles has fetched more than ₹71 crore in its first week. "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" starring Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan gained the title of highest first week grosser of 2015 with ₹70.02 crore income, but "ABCD 2" smashed that record.

"#ABCD2 records HIGHEST *Week 1* biz of 2015 [so far], overtaking *Week 1* biz of #TanuWedsManuReturns [₹ 70.02 cr]. India biz. Hindi films," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#ABCD2 Fri 14.30 cr, Sat 14.54 cr, Sun 17.51 cr, Mon 8.05 cr, Tue 6.77 cr, Wed 5.68 cr, Thu 4.93 cr. Total: ₹ 71.78 cr nett. India biz. FAB," he added.

The dance film directed by Remo D'Souza had a smashing opening weekend and first Monday. But it couldn't maintain the same pace at the box office and the collection dropped mid-week.

However, "ABCD 2" is expected to dominate the box office this week as there is no big release.

Meanwhile, the director has plans to make more sequels of the dance film after the success of the first two parts.

"Currently I'm just enjoying the success of ABCD 2 and I want to stay in this feeling for some days," he told IANS.

"The more fans shower me with love, the more I'll feel accepted and supported. And if that happens, I'll definitely make more movies in this franchise... ABCD 3 and 4 will be made," he added.
