Czech automaker Skoda is gearing up to launch its new edition of Rapid in India on 30 September.

Rapid facelift, the new avatar of Rapid has been spied in the country numerous times and now a new Auto Car India report claims that the car will see the light of the day on 30 September.

In terms of the style and dimension, the car will have only subtle changes, but under the hood, the Rapid facelift will pack new 1.5 TDI turbo diesel, which is seen in the Volkswagen Polo.

The engine is likely to come in two states of tunes like VW Polo - 90PS power and 220Nm torque and 105PS power and 250Nm torque. The engine may also come with an automatic gearbox.

Once it hits the market, the new Skoda Rapid will take on the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, 2014 Ford Fiesta, 2014 Nissan Sunny and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and is likely to get a price tag in the sub ₹10 lakh range.

Skoda will also be launching its new Yeti facelift in India on 10 September. Under the hood, the new avatar of Yeti is likely to carry the same 2.0 litre diesel engine, which features in the current Yeti, and is also likely to continue having two states of tune - 110 PS at 4,200 rpm and 140 PS at 4,200 rpm.

The 110 PS variant is tuned to make 250 Nm of torque and is likely to get a five-speed manual gearbox, while the 140 PS variant pumps in 320 Nm of torque and is expected to come mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Yeti facelift is likely to get minor tweaks like reworked front fascia with wider grille and headlights.

Other speculated features include a new logo of Skoda, keyless entry and go system, electrically adjustable driver's seat, cruise control and rear view camera. It is expected to fall in the price range of ₹15.19 lakh to ₹18.91 lakh.
