The highly anticipated new generation i20 is finally here. The company pulled the wraps off its new Elite i20 on Monday in India, with a price tag starting at ₹4.89 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Based on Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, the new Elite i20 has received stylish treatment both inside and outside. The car looks more premium with its new front and rear styling and comes with two engine options—1.2 kappa petrol and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine.
The petrol model of Elite i20 is powered by 1.2 litre petrol engine, which can churn out a 83 PS of power and peak torque of 114 Nm, mated to five speed manual transmission.
The diesel model gets power from 1.4 litre CRDi diesel engine, which is tuned to pump out 90 PS of power and peak torque of 220 Nm and the motor comes coupled to a 6 speed transmission.
There is no automatic engine on offer, at least for now. While the petrol Elite i20 promises a return of 18.24 kmpl, diesel variant claims to deliver 21.76 kmpl.
The car will be offered in five trims - Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O) and Asta. It will come in seven paint jobs - Red Passion, Pristine Blue, Mystic Blue, Star Dust, Midas Gold, Polar White, and Sleek Silver. The bookings of the new Elite i20 are already under way.
On the exterior, the new Elite i20 sports hexagonal grille, trapezoidal fog lamps, reworked headlights, sporty black C pillar block and wrap around tail lamps. Inside the cabin, the car gets black and beige dual tone dashboard along with a slew of features like sporty multi – steering mounted audio controls, Bluetooth integrated 2 Din audio with USB and Aux-in and 1 GB internal storage, rear AC vents, push start stop button, and automatic temperature control and lot more.
As far as the safety features are concerned, the Elite i20 gets Antilock braking system (ABS) with Electronic brake force distribution (EBD), four passenger airbags and reverse parking camera.
The car will be pegged against Maruti Suzuki Swift, Fiat Punto, Tata Bolt, Toyota Etios Liva and Ford Figo in India.
