A medical expert, who examined Salman Khan during the 2002 hit-and-run case, on Thursday, told the court that the actor reeked of alcohol.

However, Dr Suhas Pawar, who is the 20th witness in the case, also clarified that according to clinical examination Salman was not under the influence of alcohol.

Pawar was the on-duty medical officer at the JJ hospital in 2002. He had taken the blood samples of Salman for analysis and alcohol test.

"A policeman had come with Khan to the casualty department for carrying out an alcohol test. I had clinically examined Khan, and with his consent, collected a blood sample for further analysis," DNA quoted Pawar as saying.

The doctor also told court that the actor's pupils were dilated little bit due to lack of sleep, but his speech and respiratory systems were normal when he came in for the test.

"I asked him for verbal consent of extracting the blood sample. I noted identity marks, took his left thumb impression and sealed the sample to be sent to the Chemical Analyst," the witness further added, according to The Indian Express.

Salman has been accused of killing one and injuring four others when his Land Rover crashed into a footpath. The incident happened near a laundry shop on Bandra's Hill Road area in Mumbai on the night of 28 September, 2002.

Salman, tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, could spend 10 year jail term if found guilty in the hit-and-run-case.
