Forbes has released the 2018 list of the highest-paid celebrities in the world and two Indians – Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan – feature on it.
Akshay and Salman are household names in the Indian movie circuit and have been churning out box office blockbusters for the better part of the last three decades. Thus, it is of little surprise that the duo has made it to Forbes' rich-list.
The pair has outlasted Shah Rukh Khan, who finds himself out of the top 100 after ranking at 65 in 2017.
Shah Rukh was ranked the highest among the Indians in the list last year, with Salman at second (71) and Akshay at third (80).
But this year, Akshay has knocked off his domestic challengers and moved up four places to 76 to be placed as the highest-earning Indian celebrity. The 'Khiladi' is reported to have earned a whopping $40.5 million in 2018 and is tied with Avengers star Scarlett Johansson.
Akshay, who earned $5 million more than last year, endorses close to 20 brands from jewellery to footwear and vests.
Salman's brand, meanwhile, took a hit as he dropped 11 places to 82 on the list with earnings estimated to be at $37.7 million. Despite the fall, Salman continues to be one of the go-to people for top brands in India.
Among the brands the Dabangg actor endorses are Thums Up, Yatra.com and Revital.
With 2.0 geared for massive box office success, Akshay Kumar can certainly hope he can keep his place on the list as the richest Indian actor.
