New details of the alleged feud between "19 Kids and Counting" sisters Jill and Jessa Duggar have emerged, and if an insider is to be believed, sibling rivalry and personality clash is the core reason for their fight.

News of a tension between the two was revealed last week after Radar Online analysed their social networking accounts. The media outlet found that Jill follows most of her relatives on microblogging site Twitter, except Jessa and her husband Ben Seewald. And although Jill's husband Derick Dillard follows Ben and Jessa, they do not follow him back.

Following this, an insider told Star magazine that tension between the siblings, who are just one year apart, have been brewing for sometime. "And now that the girls and their marriages have become a bigger focus of the show, the problems are escalating," the source said, according to Radar Online.

Clash in their personalities and how the other Duggars treat them are other contributing factors to the tension. For instance, Jill is considered the family's golden child, and Jessa is known for her sarcasm, noted Radar Online.

"Jessa resents that Jill is her parents' favorite, and she's pulling away from the family," the insider said. "And Jill doesn't approve of the choices Jessa is making.

"Jessa is able to live for herself now, without the crazy rules — and she is learning who she wants to be — but Jill stayed pretty much the same when she left home," the insider added.

Soon after news of an alleged tension between the siblings emerged last week, the Duggar sisters attempted to shut it down by sharing a picture of the two of them with their spouses hanging out together.

On 8 December, Jill and Derick Dillard invited Jessa and Ben Seewald over for a double dinner date, and a picture of the foursome was uploaded on the Duggars' family blog.

"The newlywed couples enjoyed chatting as they chowed down on beans and cornbread. After the meal, Jill and Jessa took their husbands over to their family's house to watch the Christmas recital put on by several of the Duggar kids," the blog post read.
