Chinese consumer electronics major Zopo Mobile launched a new flagship handset called the Speed 8 on Wednesday.

The device, which flaunts its processor as its USP, was originally launched in China in January. The Speed 8 is the world's first deca-core CPU-based smartphone. It boasts MediaTek Helio X20 SoC (System-on-Chip), which houses 10 cores of ARM Cortex A-53 chips and is aptly backed by 700MHz ARM Mali-T880 MP4 graphics engine, 4GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt storage and a 3,600mAh battery with fast charging technology.

What's the benefit of having multi-core CPU?

The more the number of cores, the more efficiently the smart device works. Users can feel the difference while playing graphic-heavy games, as there is hardly any lag. Even animations and videos play smoothly without stuttering.

It also helps the phone load apps faster, and captures high-quality photos, records HD (or full HD) videos, and makes surfing through the photo album quicker, without any lag.

For instance, a core may be at work to play a game while others are in standby mode and if a call comes in, a second core gets to work. Both the gaming session and the phone call operation will continue without any hitch. With 10 core-based chipset on board, Speed 8 owners will enjoy lag-free experience.

"The smartphone market in India is going through a cut-throat competition of sorts and relevance and technology innovation dictates what is here to stay. There is no place for 'me toos' in the market," Kevin Xu, the founder of the Zopo brand, said in a statement. "Keeping today's smart, discerning and technology savvy millennial in mind, we design our smartphones and make sure they are at par with contemporary trends and at the same time, they are futuristic as well. India is a strategic market for us and we are in India, for India. With this overriding commitment at our core, we launched the sophisticated Zopo Speed 8 here."

The 5.5-inch Zopo Speed 8 also boasts a feature-rich 21MP Sony IMX230 camera on the back with Auto focus, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus) and an 8MP front snapper with dedicated LED flash.
