Sonu Nigam has been banned by a famous media channel for sharing a video on Monday, urging people to learn the "truth" behind AAP's national executive Kumar Vishwas' "alleged" comment on farmer Gajendra Singh's suicide.

"I am far from politics but I feel this truth should come out for the sake of my poet friend Kumar Vishwas," he tweeted attaching a YouTube clip titled, "ZEE News Exposed "LATAK GAYA" Voiceover".

He followed it up with a series of tweets:

Trade expert Komal Nahta posted on the micro-blogging site that the company will be replacing the gifted singer in all their upcoming films.

While this news comes as a disappointment to Sonu's fans, what's interesting to note is he has social media's support. With #IStandWithSonuNigam trending, it's evident how most people do not approve of the ban slapped on him.

Here are some posts:

Mahesh Latey: "Seems even news channel following achhe din model of banning things they don't like. #IStandWithSonuNigam"

Pankaj Mishra: "So much for speaking truth in India!! @sonunigam U r a global star! @ZeeNews will come begging to U! @DrKumarVishwas #IStandWithSonuNigam"

Ghanshyam Dixit(AAP): "#Shameless Fourth pillar of democracy the Indian Media is going to its worst Banning @sonunigam is murder of democracy #IStandWithSonuNigam"

Anita Subramani: "@sonunigam We as a country are gravitating towards bans ;). Whatever, there's plenty of other ways of listening to you :) Good luck to zee!"
