Update: YU has changed the release date of Yutopia smartphone. The handset now launches on 17 December instead of 7 December.

After mocking rivals for the lack of necessary features and sharing phenomenal images shot on Yutopia, YU has finally zeroed in on a launch date for its killer flagship smartphone. Clearly, the online-only sub-brand of Micromax, YU Televentures, managed to build a lot of hype around Yutopia with a series of leaked specs and teasers. Now, it is finally time to unleash the "real beast".

YU sent out invites for an event in New Delhi on Monday, 7 December, where the Yutopia smartphone will finally see the light of day. The invite reads: "The real beast is coming to town on 07.12.15."

Yutopia is not entirely new, as we have already heard and seen a lot about the phone, especially through YU's promotional gigs. YU has constantly targeted Apple and OnePlus in demonstrating Yutopia's worth against their shortcomings. In the most recent attack on rivals, YU criticised Apple for housing small batteries in its iPhones, thereby hinting at Yutopia's high-capacity battery.

This was just one of several attacks on rivals. But YU created quite a sensation with its campaign where several breathtaking images were shared by a renowned MotoGrapher during his journey to Austria in the BMW i8.

Except for a few details, YU hinted at most of the key specs of Yutopia. Some of the confirmed features of Yutopia are a full metal body, QHD display, quick charge tech, 32GB storage and an impressive camera.

As far as rumours go, Yutopia is said to feature a 5.2-inch display, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB RAM, Cyanogen OS, 21MP rear camera, 8MP front-snapper and microSD card support. The release date and price details were kept securely under wraps, but not any more.

With the launch date set for 7 December, YU is expected to release the Yutopia smartphone for Rs 24,999. But the biggest question remains: Will Yutopia really be "the most powerful phone ever"? We'll find that out soon enough.
