Apart from its own budget smartphones, Micromax achieved overnight success for its sister brand Yu. Yu has been praised by the tech savvy young crowd of India for its debut smartphone Yureka. While Yureka is still available for sale through Amazon India, Yu is all set to launch the second smartphone in the series, Yuphoria, on 12 May.

Available at ₹8,999, Yu Yureka has been powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC along with 2GB DDR3 RAM, 16GB ROM memory. The killer price-to-specification ratio of Yureka smartphone is considered as the key formula for its success.

Through a bunch of tweets, Yu tipped to launch the upcoming smartphone Yuphoria on 12 May, 2015. Keeping the rumours and a few official videos in mind, we think Yuphoria is almost set to repeat the grand success of Yu Yureka. Here are the reasons:

Build Quality
Yu is expected to feature a OnePlus One-like build quality in Yuphoria smartphone. Yu founder Rahul Sharma has recently posted a video on Twitter, featuring the upcoming Yuphoria smartphone. The video shows that the device features a metal frame to add more ruggedness to the device. The video also shows the phone accidentally falls on the floor and instead of any harm to the phone, the floor breaks.

Though a few rumours claim Yuphoria may feature an all-metal body, we believe that might not be possible to offer since it would be a budget smartphone. For the price it can offer a metal rim and OnePlus One-like rugged polycarbonate back that must be appreciable since any budget smartphone under ₹15,000 features all plastic body.

Sound

Yu's official YouTube channel has posted another video that shows the smartphone is being used to click photographs of a woman. To add some extra beauty to the photograph, the user plays some hip-hop number on the external speaker to blow her hair.

The video tipped that Yu may feature some patented music technology like Dolby or DTS on Yuphoria. Recently, budget smartphone Lenovo A7000 integrates Dolby ATMOS feature in the phone.

Specifications

The Yu Yureka features a Snapdragon 615 SoC with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. Though some rumours suggest that Yuphoria may feature Snapdragon 410 SoC, we believe it would either feature Snapdragon 615 2nd Generation (already visible in Xiaomi Mi 4i) or pack some MediaTek processor to excel the benchmark, yet keeping the cost low. For example, Lenovo has used a MT6752m SoC in A7000 to achieve great performance.

Yu shall back the processor with 2GB Ram, and either 16GB or 32GB internal memory in Yuphoria.

Cyanogen 12

The Yuphoria will run on Cyanogen 12 OS out of the box. Based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the CM12 operating system offers several key improvements over its predecessor. Retaining the cosmetic UI of Lollipop, Cyanogen packed several new features, customisation, and bug fixes.

Significantly, Yuphoria would be the first smartphone to run on CM12 operating system out of the box.

Camera

Yu Yureka packs a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. We assume that Yu Yuphoria will retain the 13MP rear camera, but upgrade the single LED flash to dual flash. On the front, it might upgrade the camera to 8MP for snapping better selfie images or simply add another LED flash on the front for better low light selfies.

Display

According to rumours, Yuphoria might reduce the display size to 5-inch. This helps to score more in the PPI count. They might also upgrade the resolution from 720p to 1080p. Featuring a 1080p display, the under-₹10,000 smartphone would really pump up the budget consumers for buying the phone.
