After a lot of excitement for a high-end YU smartphone earlier this month, Micromax is finally going to drop the curtains off its all-new Yutopia smartphone. According to BGR India, the online subsidiary of Micromax will unveil the "world's most powerful smartphone" in India as early as next month.

The Yutopia is expected to be the same handset that was leaked in earlier benchmark results under the codename YU 5050. The leaked results surfaced online before the Yunique smartphone launch, which made everyone believe the handset would be launched alongside the ultra-affordable handset. Sadly, there was no mention about YU 5050 during the event but it appears the handset is finally ready to make its grand debut.

According to BGR, the Yutopia will be the official name for the upcoming flagship smartphone, which is internally referred to as "Project Achilles." YU founder Rahul Sharma also hinted at the next big release in India in a brief tweet last week.

While the specifications of the rumoured Yutopia remain unclear, the leaked benchmark results suggested the handset to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB memory. In addition, the listing also revealed that the YU 5050 will feature a 5.2-inch display with either a Full HD or Quad HD display. The camera is expected to be a major highlight with 21-megapixel primary shooter and 8MP front snapper.

This is a major step for YU in the smartphone space, which has confined itself to sub-Rs 10,000 devices. YU's Yureka, Yureka Plus, Yuphoria and the new Yunique smartphones have been well-received by Indian consumers. With Yutopia, the company is aiming to take a share of the budget flagship category, where handsets such as the OnePlus 2, the Xiaomi Mi4i and others have strong foothold.

The pricing of the Yutopia smartphone remains a mystery at the moment but rumours hint at two different variants with 3GB RAM, Full HD display and 4GB RAM, 2K display.
