Karan Mehra, who plays the lead role of Naitik in "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai", made headlines when reports of the actor quitting the show surfaced on Friday.

However, the popular actor has now refuted these reports, claiming that he is very much a part of the show.

"I have been answering this question since morning. No, I am not going anywhere. I am not quitting the show. There is nothing as such as of now," Karan told TV Times.

There were rumours that the show-makers are planning a generation leap on the show, post which, the 33-year-old actor will be seen as a 50-year-old. This apparently didn't go down well with the actor who decided to exit the show, instead of playing an aged man.

When asked about him being upset with the generation leap, Karan stated, "All these are stale news. Nothing of that sort is happening in the show. I am very much a part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai."

In other news, the long-running show will soon witness the engagement of Akshara (Hina Khan) and Naitik's son Naksh (Rohan Mehra) with his ladylove Tara (Umang Jain). The ceremony will take place in Hong Kong and the entire cast will soon fly down to the city for a 10-day shoot.

"The channel and makers are presently working out details on the much-awaited engagement of Naksh and Tara that will air sometime in March. The team will fly for a small schedule in Hong Kong in the last week of February, wherein they will shoot the engagement of the young lovers," a source told Telly Chakkar.
