Veteran director Yash Chopra was laid to rest on Monday afternoon at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai.

Aditya Chopra lit the funeral fire during the last rites of his father Yash Chopra at around 4 pm at Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle in a private ceremony, according to Daily Bhaskar

Uday, the younger son of Yash Chopra, brust into tears at the cremation ground as Aditya Chopra lit the funeral fire.

The last journey of the filmmaker was attended by his family members, relatives and Bollywood colleagues. 

The funeral procession of Chopra began at around 3 pm from Yash Raj Studios in Andheri, where his body was kept overnight for his last darshan.

Yash Chopra's body was carried in an ambulance which was followed by a bus with employees of the Yash Raj Studios and several cars carrying family members and associates from the film fraternity.

According to reports, Karan Johar traveled with the late director's body inside the ambulance.

On Monday, large number of crowds gathered outside the Yash Raj Studios to catch the last glimpse of the legendary filmmaker.

Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Rekha, Tanuja, Vidya Balan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Ranbir  Kapoor, Kajol, Sridevi, Tabu, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Saroj Khan, David Dhawan, Imran Khan, Minissha Lamba, Sanjay Gadhvi, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Varun Dhawan, Shahid Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Karisma Kapoor, Abbas-Mustan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan among others were present at Yash Raj Studio to pay their last respect to the legend.

The director passed away on Sunday at around 5.30 pm due to dengue and multiple organ failure. He was 80.
