The Yamaha YZF-R3 has already become a regular fixture in the auto world, with its specifications and images being leaked periodically. Now, the latest buzz whirling on the Internet is that the bike maker could launch its new R3 in the Indian market as early as August.

Yamaha has started sending invites for an event on 11 August, a possible indication that the much-awaited YZF-R3 could be on its way to the Indian market. Though it is not known which of the Yamaha bikes that have been spied testing on the roads will be launched, sources believe the YZF-R3 will be the first one to be out of the blocks, on 11 August.

The Yamaha R3 is powered by a 320cc inline twin-cylinder DOHC engine, which can pump out 42 PS of power and 29.6 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The stopping power of Yamaha sportsbike comes from 298 mm disc up front and a 220 mm disc at the rear and the bike gets telescopic forks in the front and monoshock at the rear. When launched in India, the Yamaha R3 is likely to be priced at around Rs 3.3 lakh.
